project

Nissan

brief

Nissan invited a number of international design firms to document and define the medium-term future character of the transportation market. The ideas were to be conceptual and did not need to be based on the form of a car or realized in any way. Long time Core77 collaborator Tom Kilinkowstein was one of the studios invited to participate, and he asked us to help develop the visual aspects of the project.

solution

Mr. Klinkowstein had distilled his thinking to five concept statements. Working with these ideas, Core77 researched, compiled and organized a number of visual elements related to the concepts.

Through a series of presentations and brainstorming sessions, Core77 refined and focused the vocabulary for each concept. This background information was then distilled into images and compositions, and delivered in a set of large scale prints.

Core77 then returned to the source material and reinterpreted the ideas for broadband delivery, designing a set of motion studies that expanded upon the visual language of the research. The end results crystallized the concepts while demanding thoughtful reflection by the client.
